The Department of Biochemistry plays a pivotal role in medical education, laboratory diagnostics, patient care services and research supporting both undergraduate medical and paramedical training..
The department delivers high-quality teaching through an integrated, competency-based curriculum and provides essential 24-hour laboratory services for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency care. Biochemistry investigations are among the most frequently utilized diagnostic tests and are critical for disease diagnosis, monitoring, and management, including cancer, metabolic disorders, renal diseases, and endocrinopathies. Quality is ensured through Internal Quality Control (IQC) and External Quality Assurance Schemes (EQAS).
The department functions with a vision to achieve excellence in biochemistry education, diagnostic services, and research, thereby supporting high-quality patient care and producing competent Indian Medical Graduates.
