The Department of General Medicine is dedicated to providing comprehensive medical care for adult patients through high-quality outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and critical care services. The department manages a wide range of acute medical emergencies, sepsis, poisoning, and metabolic crises and chronic medical conditions including cardiac, endocrine, respiratory, gastric, renal, infectious and metabolic disorders. The department also offers preventive and lifestyle medicine counselling, multidisciplinary patient management along with community outreach programmes and health camps.
With a strong emphasis on clinical excellence, evidence-based practice, and academic rigor, the department plays a pivotal role in undergraduate medical education. Faculty members are actively involved in bedside teaching, clinical mentoring, research, and community health initiatives, fostering strong clinical reasoning, ethical practice, and professionalism among students.
Postgraduate MD program commenced in the Department of General Medicine from the academic year 2025.
