The Department of Psychiatry is dedicated to promoting mental health through compassionate clinical care, academic excellence, and innovative research. The department aims to bridge the treatment gap in psychiatry by delivering high-quality services, collaborative liaison work, and evidence-based interventions.
The department is registered as a Mental Health Establishment under Chapter X of the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017, and complies with all prescribed standards regarding infrastructure, qualified personnel, record maintenance, and reporting. The department successfully completed inspection for renewal of registration under the Act on 03 September 2025.
The department provides evidence-based tobacco cessation services, structured psychotherapies (CBT, IPT, DBT, MET), parental support groups for families of children with Autism and ADHD and other community awareness programmes under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
