General Surgery

The Department of General Surgery provides comprehensive surgical care by integrating advanced technology with evidence-based clinical practice. The department manages a wide spectrum of elective and emergency surgical conditions, including gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, breast, thyroid and complex hepato-pancreato-biliary surgeries.

The department is actively involved in undergraduate teaching not limited to bedside teaching, clinical demonstrations, seminars, and case discussions, internship training, and clinical research. A major milestone for the institute is the Government of Tamil Nadu approval for Liver Transplantation, in which the Department of General Surgery plays a pivotal role.
