Paediatrics

The Department of Paediatrics provides comprehensive child health services encompassing preventive, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative care. The department is actively involved in undergraduate medical education and delivers evidence-based paediatric care through well-established clinical services and subspecialty units. With a strong focus on neonatal and paediatric intensive care, nutrition, infections, and developmental paediatrics, the department integrates academic excellence with compassionate patient care.

The department actively participates in community outreach programmes such as celebrations of Breastfeeding Week, World Autism Awareness Day, World Down Syndrome Day, World Nutrition Day, ORS Day along with school health check-ups, health camps, PHC and rural health centre services.

Postgraduate MD program commenced in the Department of Paediatrics from the academic year 2025.

The department functions with a vision to deliver excellence in paediatric education and child healthcare while nurturing competent, ethical, and compassionate paediatricians.

Clinical Facilities and Services

• Immunization Clinic (6 days/week; National Immunization Schedule vaccines free on Wednesdays and Fridays).

• Level III NICU (10 beds): CPAP, HFNC, invasive ventilation, TPN, umbilical and PICC lines, phototherapy, exchange transfusion.

• High-Risk Newborn Clinic with ROP screening, hearing assessment, nutrition and growth monitoring.

• Postnatal Services with lactation counselling and infection-control practices.

• Developmental Clinic (developmental delay, ADHD, autism, behavioural and language disorders).

• Paediatric Hemato-Oncology Ward (30 beds) with chemotherapy, BMT support, palliative care.

• Subspecialty services: Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Neurology, Endocrinology, Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Nephrology, Paediatric Surgery, Orthopaedics

• 24×7 Paediatric Emergency Services.
